Sotol, a spirit made from the Dasylirion plant, also known as the desert spoon, is native to the arid deserts and rocky slopes of Chihuahua, Mexico. The Indigenous peoples of the Chihuahuan Desert, such as the Jumano, Apache, and Mogollon, have been making this traditional drink for centuries. This project was especially interesting to me because of the extensive research involved, plus the opportunity to learn more about Mexican culture.
